What have you been doing to get farm ready?

We live on a 400 acre beef cattle property where we rent the house, have chickens that we breed, a vege garden we constructed out of recycled materials and Rob helps out iwth the herds and farming dutiesj on the property as well as building and fence (including electric) maintenance.

Why are you passionate about farming?

Bree- I have grown up on farms that my family members had, always wanting a property of my own but have lived in suburbia since I was a teen and haven't had the opportunity to. I love the land and life on the land. Never happier than when I'm gazing across a paddock. Rob - Has always had a love of animals and since working here where we live and at Genetics Australia, has discovered a passion for working outdoors with the animals.

Best days of being a farmer:

Our dream farm is called R&R. It's on a river or lake somewhere and it's a mixed farm with cattle and horses and even a couple of sheep and pigs for meat, big veggie garden, yabbies and trout stocked in the dams with a petting farm for kids. It would be self-sufficient and environmentally sustainable and would teach these practices to our visitors or farming interested people. Including other farmers. We would offer a farm stay experience like no other catering for any age group while the cattle production is our main fstming focus. The best days would be spent watching our two boys grow on the property and hopefully develop a love of it too, so we can then pass t on.
