What have you been doing to get farm ready?

Since the age of 15 I have been doing as much as I possibly could to help build my skills within agriculture. This includes, throughout high school getting work experience on a number of properties, as well as whist being at school studying agriculture and primary industries and in doing so obtaining a certificate 2 in agriculture. Post school I worked on a macadamia farm for around 7 months and shortly realised that horticulture wasn't for me. Since then I have been working intermittently on a cropping and grazing property for the past four years.

Why are you passionate about farming?

I have an absolute love of the land and all animals, so naturally farming allows me to be in a position where I'm surrounded by both of these things on a daily basis and as they say, if you're doing what you love you'll never work a day in your life. Additionally for me the gratification of physically seeing your hard work grow and develop in front of your eyes is unlike anything else.

Best days of being a farmer:

I don't have a specific area where my dream farm would be, but if I were to have a rough preference it would be within New South Wales or South East Queensland as I believe that New South Whales in particular is a very versatile state in regards to farming and offers vast possibilities for what is produced and how it is produced. On my ideal farm I would aim to run an beef fattening/trading operation with simplicity and sustainability being at the core. On my best days I would stop and appreciate what I have been able to achieve, however, I would be constantly looking forward as to what I can improve on and manage a better operation.
