What have you been doing to get farm ready?

My main focus on farming and agriculture is on the businesses, finance and supply chain side of agriculture. When possible I help with business analytics, business planning and fundraising. My son show a passion for farming and I assist him to learn, understand and develop potensial skills that can assist with him progressing to holiday farm work and a career in agriculture, most likely through the Australian Agricultural College.

Why are you passionate about farming?

My interest in farming is largely driven by the fact that my son has a keen interest in becoming a farmer. He must get that from my side of the family, who are successful farmers in South Africa. Whenever the opportunity arise to visit farms he joins me and display a keen interest in all aspects of farm life, from land management, cropping, cattle and overall farm management and daily activity. I am trying to assist him to the best of my ability.

Best days of being a farmer:

I am familiar with the Darling Downs, up to Mundubbera, so most likely in that region. I like cattle, so most likely a breeder based enterprise, supported by cropping. Best days are days where you can look at what you have done and achieved and feel a sense of pride.
